The pupils took part in a warm-up activity to raise their HEART RATE and to PREPARE themselves for the activities ahead.
The stretches performed were;
Quadricep (STRETCH OF THE WEEK)
Hamstring
Gastrocnemius
Tricep
Deltiod
We recapped last week’s lesson and in groups the pupils worked together adding in the 1 and 2 point balances to link, balance, a travel with smooth transition and control. Here are a few photos;
The groups remained the same and the emphasis on the lesson was the precision of starting and finishing position of every move. The pupils were shown a video of their gymnastic performance that occured in Term 2. While watching the video, for the first time i asked them the following questions;
1. Does this routine have a start and a end position?
2. Does the performers have quality? control? body tension?
Now i played the music over the video and explained to the group and asked them;
3. What is the difference between this video with music and your performances?
The pupils stated that the performances must be in time with the music whether it is fast or slow or a mixture. The pupils also realised that the performances were using balances and rolls but remebering they must have;
- Control
- Body Tension
- Quality
The groups then moved back into their groups and the task was for them to create a new routine to the instrumental of 'Rihanna - Only Girl in the World', which had a mixture of slow and fast beats.
Again the main emphasis was on the start and finishing position of their performances.
1. Did they have a start and finish position?
2. Was the performance in time with the music?
3. Did they have control? Body Tension? Quality?
4. Which performance did you like and why?
The pupils enjoyed learning and the activities that they took part in! Well done to everybody in the class for the effort and attitude towards the lesson!
