FOR THE NEXT LESSON one stretch will be nominated to be STRETCH of the WEEK and you will need to be aware which one it is.....when asked in class
The group then moved into their first task which involved the group using the space in the hall to move around using their;
- Left leg
- Right leg
The pupils then got into pairs and collected a ball or bean bag from the centre of the hall inside a hoop.
See diagram below;
Progressions that were made:
- Left leg only, any hand to throw
- Right leg only, any hand to throw
The pupils then tried the task standing still with their partner.
Progressions that were made:
- Left leg only, any hand to throw
- Right leg only, any hand to throw
- Left leg, left hand to throw and catch
- Right leg, right hand to throw and catch
- Any leg, any hand
QUESTION:
Was it easier to balance throwing and catching without moving or with throwing and catching on the move in pairs?
What made the difference and why?
How could the balancing be improved?
The pupils then moved into a timed exercise, how many catches could be made in 30secs balancing on the right leg and then the left leg. The pupils then added the scores together to reach a final total. If a ball was dropped the score returned to ZERO.
QUESTION:
Why was the team that had the most catches the most successful?
How can you improve your score?
The pupils then moved into the final task, practising balancing on each leg for a maximum of 15 secs and this is done TWICE on each leg.
Time stops when;
- The pupil places both feet on the ground
- Or the pupil balances for the maximum time of 15 SECS.
The pupils enjoyed learning and the activities that they took part in! Well done to everybody in the class for the effort and attitude towards the lesson!
Keep CHECKING the blog to see what we are going to be upto over the next couple of weeks!
NEXT WEEK we are looking at STANDING LONG JUMP!
Looking forward to Mondays lesson!
